Erev Shabbat, the 10th of Tevet—a fast day. At 3:13 PM, just over an hour before Shabbat, we received a call from a young man in his 20s. His wife was about to undergo emergency surgery at the hospital. He was fasting and worried about what he would eat after the fast ended.
Time was short, and stress was high. Shabbat would begin at 4:16 PM, leaving little time to prepare. But this is what Chabad Heart is here for—to step in with compassion and provide practical help when it’s needed most.
By the time Shabbat began, he had what he needed, and we were reminded again of the importance of being a lifeline for our community in their most vulnerable moments.
